Data Centre Busbars for a Global Social Media Platform

Project Overview

A leading global social media platform sought to enhance the performance, reliability, and efficiency of its data centre operations. H V Wooding Ltd was selected to collaborate on the design optimisation and manufacture of precision-engineered busbars, delivering a robust and scalable solution for this high-demand environment.

Challenge

The project required busbars built to exceptionally demanding technical and material specifications. Copper grades exceeded standard international requirements, and the electroplating specification had to precisely match the customer’s electrical conductivity and durability criteria. In addition, a full production solution was needed — including protective coverings, returnable packaging, and a global logistics plan — while maintaining the highest levels of quality and consistency.

Solution

H V Wooding sourced copper materials that met strict dimensional and surface finish requirements, producing multiple prototype samples for comprehensive electrical testing. A full production route was developed encompassing punching, surface finishing, electroplating, and quality testing. The team also designed a bespoke returnable packaging system to protect components during global transport and implemented a robust, traceable supply chain capable of meeting worldwide delivery needs.

Results

The collaboration produced a technically superior and commercially efficient busbar solution. Assembly times were reduced thanks to improved part consistency and precision tolerances, and the repeatable manufacturing process ensured zero non-conforming components. With a reliable global supply chain now established, the customer benefits from ongoing performance and delivery assurance across their international data centre operations.
